Discussion Guidelines

Guidelines for Users of Blogs and Discussion Forums

   Minimize

The following guidelines are provided for users of the Blogs and Discussion Forums sections of the SESI website. Please read them in conjunction with the Terms of Use for the website.

Discussions and blogs can create really useful content and be very powerful ways of conducting productive discussions if used constructively and respectfully. They can also become the opposite.  The quality of the output is directly related to the quality of input. Accordingly, please:

  • Remember, ‘you are Subud, Subud is you’.
  • Unless it was said to you directly, please don’t attribute anything to YM Bapak or to Ibu Siti Rahayu unless you can include the quotation verbatim or provide the talk reference.
  • Be constructive.
  • Be respectful to other people participating in a discussion and/or persons referenced in it.
  • Give the benefit of the doubt rather than accuse or suspect.
  • Be cognizant of the fact that many people in Subud give a lot of their time to build up our ‘commonwealth’ without remuneration.
  • Challenge ideas and viewpoints, not people.
  • Do not use personal criticism, don’t vilify and, in particular, don’t impute motives to other people.
  • Do not speculate if you don’t know the facts.
  • Do not make statements that are defamatory or libellous.
  • Do not be profane or obscene.
  • Do not contribute material which breaches copyright.
  • Do not contribute material which infringes another person’s privacy.
  • Remember less is definitely more / quality over quantity.
  • Read carefully what has previously been posted by others to avoid repeating comments and wasting other people’s time.
  • Don’t talk off-topic – start another discussion or blog if your subject is not catered for.
These are the conventions and protocols of the user generated content components of the SESI website. Any Subud member who is registered to use the website is welcome to become a blogger, to establish a discussion forum, or contribute comments to either of those. However, please remember, SESI reserves the right in its absolute discretion and without discussion or liability to remove any user and or any user generated content
